Fox.). The author's grandfather, Frank Elwin Morgan II, recalled of Charles Noble: 'He and Frank Hatch owned most of the best land west of the Beouf River. Two or two and a half bales to the acre was normal. They would furnish a plot of land, mules, plowes, etc. to a negro for one year. He would then grow cotton and when harvested he would then take it to Mr.Noble's gin. Mr. Noble would then sell the cotton. They would add up all of the man's purchases at Mr. Noble's store and then settle both accounts and left over cash at the same time. An opportunity to farm with Mr. Noble or Frank Hatch was very much prized by the people of that area. The banks at Rayville, Mangham and Alto (all in Richland Parish) were owned by the two men. He enjoyed the respect of everyone in the area.' His tombstone shows him being born on February 1, 1851; however, the correct date, according to a family bible, is February 11. She received her education from Whitworth College at Brookhaven, Mississippi and later her nursing training at Charity Hospital in Natchez, Mississippi. She spent most of her later life in Jackson and was a member of the Capital Street United Methodist Church. Her funeral services were at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville, Louisiana later followed by internment near her childhood home. The cemetery is situated in one of the most lovely southern settings possible with a white traditional church surrounded by mighty oaks covered with Spanish Moss.
